10We would emphasize here that the approximation of “exposure” we use here is just that – an approximation. While use of the term “exposure” in the field typically implies modeling of ­emissions to determine concentration at the neighborhood level, taking into account distance from the facility, how emissions are released and local wind and atmospheric patterns, for the purposes of this preliminary work, we rely on the rough approximation described here based only on total emissions and distance of residents from the facility.
